AVI

SOMMAIRE

AVI Audio Visual Interleaved

Audio Video Interleaved

"Video for Windows" animation format from microsoft.

It is chunky pixel based and mostly has audio streams associated with the animation.

is not able to play back sound data.

AVI sur Mac

(fichier "ReadMe" de "AVI-to-QT Kit" trouvé dans le CD-ROM "CD UMAC 68")
To convert an AVI movie, first, place the contents of the folder "Drop contents in "Extensions" in your System Folder:Extensions folder, then simply drop the movie onto "AVI to QT Utility" and then you can choose either to convert it to a stand-alone movie or simply create a small "Alias" to the movie data.

Fichiers :
- Indeo® Video
- Intel Raw Video
- Windows Compressors

-> Quel est le rôle de chacun de ces fichiers ? Sont-ils tous indispensables ?

QuickTime itself doesn't understand how to play AVI movies, because it doesn't know what to do with the movie data. So you need the compressor/decompressor components (codecs) in the "Drop contents in "Extensions"" folder in order for QT to know what to do with the movie data. I put this distribution together by taking the "AVI to QT Utility" from the file "gst/mov/video-for-windows-11p.hqx" and finding that the codecs shipped with that package are too old for most newer AVIs, I found that some newer ones shipped with a Netscape plug-in called "Maczilla", I "borrowed" those from that.
